All students interested in taking the Advanced Band (923415) course at Hayfield will be asked to complete an in-person audition. These auditions are optional for all students but required for any student who wants to be enrolled in the Advanced Band (923415) course grades 9-12. Students will sign up for a time slot via this SignUpGenius link.
Regarding the 0.5 honors GPA bump: Students in the Advanced Band course will receive a 0.5 GPA bump. Marching band is required for the Advanced Band course and GPA bump. Students who do not participate in marching band will not receive the 0.5 GPA bump.

- All audition excerpts for your instrument from “Second Suite in F for Military Band” by Gustav Holst (there are three excerpts for each audition - it is highly recommended that you use recordings of the piece to help you prepare for your audition)
- Two major scales, selected at random; octaves and tempo of your choosing.
- Chromatic Scale at the range and tempo of your choosing.
- Sightreading
